OUR SOLUTION
Low-cost, scalable desalination for the toughest brines
Our patented membrane-less, non-evaporative solvent extraction technology selectively absorbs freshwater from contaminated brines. The result is a scalable, sustainable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective process that can handle brines across the salinity spectrum, with customizable water recovery up to Zero Liquid Discharge.
01
Absorb: Our proprietary solvent selectively absorbs freshwater molecules - leaving salts, contaminants, and minerals behind. No pre-treatment, no membranes, no evaporation.
02
Release: A gentle temperature change causes the solvent to release freshwater, allowing the solvent to be regenerated and reused. The result: clean, usable water plus a concentrated brine rich in valuable minerals for recovery.
03
The concentrated waste can be made available for brine mining operations, conventional disposal, or other tertiary treatment.

TestingLearning
Through rigorous optimization, testing, and data science we are continually driving down the lifetime cost of treatment.
CETOS TECHNOLOGY
Built for Impact
The most cost-effective treatment for complex water challenges. - We reduce the need for freshwater in the most water-intensive sectors, allowing us to increase the total allocation of freshwater where it is needed most – human consumption.
Lowest OPEX
Our minimal energy requirement and automated operations offer the lowest opex of any desalination technology
Lowest CAPEX
Our low thermal footprint side-steps the need for expensive anti-corrosive materials or costly maintenance disruptions, delivering the lowest CapEx with simple, off-the-shelf components
Performance Guarantee
Our methodical approach to testing and analysis allows us to provide a pass-through guarantee for solvent recovery, water product quality, and system flow rate.
Modular
Our process operates from a modular foundational design and leverages offsite assembly, minimizing site disruption.
Our mission
Rethinking Desalination
Conventional desalination has long emphasized producing drinking water from seawater. However, this approach overlooks that the leading consumers of freshwater are agricultural, energy, extractive, and industrial processes. These sectors often do not require fresh water, but existing solutions are not designed to create fit-for-purpose water.
